Is your battery flat, drained or worn out?
A drained battery has lost enough charge that it cannot start the engine, but it may still be serviceable. A worn-out or damaged battery may not retain charge even after the car starts. Clicking sounds, dim lights and slow cranking can suggest low charge; they do not prove the battery is the only fault.
- Tell us whether the engine turns slowly, clicks or does not respond.
- Mention any lights, dash cameras or accessories left running.
- Tell us how long the vehicle has been parked.
- Mention previous jump starts or recurring battery warnings.
